Toora Women Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation which has been delivering gender-specific services to women in the ACT and surrounds since 1982. Our mission statement “Safety, Respect and Choice for Women” is central to our goal of empowering women.
We offer a wide range of specialist services to women, with complex issues who have experienced past or present traumas, such as:
- The impact of their own or another person’s drug and alcohol use
- Domestic, family and sexual violence
- Homelessness with or without children
- Mental health issues
- The ACT corrections system
Drawing from over 35 years of experience, Toora is committed to providing the highest quality comprehensive and integrated services to women in the ACT. We pride ourselves on being innovative and forward thinking. We work closely with the sector and community to provide flexible, responsive and holistic services, which offer the best possible outcomes for all our clients.
Toora provides Homelessness, Domestic Violence (DV), and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) health treatment services to more than 800 women and children each year. In line with Toora’s Practice Framework, our programs operate in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment within a culture of empowerment and equality where clients feel valued, respected and have the right to choose. Our combination of practical support and intensive individually tailored case management and Counselling offers our clients encouragement, education and positive life-skills to achieve long-term change and achievement.
